Flowers N Songs remains undefeated at Meadows

by Evan Pattak, for The Meadows

Washington, PA — Flowers N Songs remained undefeated in her three-race career when she overwhelmed the field in Wednesday’s (March 2) opening leg of the Mary Wohlmuth Memorial Trot at The Meadows. UF Lindsay Lou Who and Pink Pistol took the other $12,000 opening-leg splits. The series honors the late Mary Wohlmuth, longtime manager of the track’s iconic 2:00 Club.

Unraced at 2, Flowers N Songs zipped to the front for Jim Pantaleano and never faced a serious challenge, drawing off to score in 1:58.1, 7 lengths better than Lakeview Tammy. A Toastandcaviar was third. Rich Gillock trains the 3-year-old homebred daughter of Deweycheatumnhowe-Pleasure’s Song for Bob Key.

In the $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot, Trustworthy Kid enjoyed a better early seat than usual and used it to launch a winning second-over bid. He prevailed in 1:54.3 for Brian Zendt, trainer Lisa Dunn and owner/breeder Dunn Stable. The first-over Tamarind was second, 1/2 length back, with Dunn Stable’s Redder Than Red third. The 7-year-old SJ’s Caviar-Penn Worthy Lane gelding now boasts $388,052 in career earnings.

Dave Palone piloted four winners and Eric Goodell three on the 15-race card.
