Fontaine and Roosevelt Raceway book authors draw large radio audience

by Fred Hudson

Huntington Station, NY — When is the last time 50,000 fans tuned in to listen to a harness racing radio show? How about Monday (April 21).

More than 50,000 tuned in to listen to one of harness racing’s all time greats, Lucien (Loosh) Fontaine, who was joined by Billy Haughton, Jr. and one of his co-authors of the much anticipated Roosevelt Raceway book, Victoria Howard. The book is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2014. Missing was Freddie Hudson who was in New York with another commitment.

The show was aired on the Oxford City Broadcasting’s 640 AM and was hosted by Mick Bazsuly.

After the show Bazsuly said, “I just met my idol from Roosevelt Raceway, Lucien Fontaine, and I also idolized Billy Haughton, Sr. and Del Insko. Life is good and today I feel seven feet tall thanks to my co-hosts Billy and Vicky; they made me look good and Loosh is a true gentleman and legend. What an honor.”

The show can be viewed and heard at the following link.

I have to warn you that with the streaming portion of the show the station had technical issues with the sound and we hope that this issue will be resolved so that all can hear this truly great broadcast.

The show centers on the career of Lucien Fontaine and gives some insight into the much anticipated Roosevelt Raceway book.

Lucien Fontaine, Billy Haughton, Jr., Victoria Howard and Freddie Hudson, along with an all star cast of drivers and trainers that include Carmine Abbatiello, Benny Webster, Herve Filion and Mike Lachance, plus many more, will all be attending the Roosevelt Raceway Legacy Night at the Meadowlands on May 17.
