London, ON — With no eliminations required for the C$195,000 Forest City Pace on Nov. 26 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, five of the nine mares entered will prep this weekend, all at Woodbine.
Warrawee Koine has drawn post five in Friday evening’s (Nov. 18) fourth race at Woodbine. Jody Jamieson is listed to steer the 5-year-old daughter of Astreos who has won $253,036 so far this season for owner/breeder Dr. Mike Wilson.
On Saturday night (Nov. 19) at the Toronto oval, four of the Forest City entrants will take a turn behind the gate in the ninth race, the Mares Open. Jamieson will be aboard Ticket To Rock from post two for trainer Tony O’Sullivan. The Rocknroll Hanover 4-year-old would go over the C$1 million mark in lifetime earnings with a victory in the C$42,000 race.
O’Sullivan also trains Seriously who has post four in the Mares Open with Scott Zeron at the lines. Alongside her in post five will be the defending Forest City champ Dreamfair Eternal. Chris Christoforou, who piloted the winner of $641,768 this year to victory in last year’s Forest City final, will once again be behind the winner of $2.27 million lifetime.
Voelz Hanover is the other mare entered in Saturday’s Open and the Forest City. The winner of nearly a million during her career will have Mario Baillargeon in the bike as usual from post seven.
The other mares who will be competing in the Forest City, the feature event of The Raceway’s Fall Meet, are recent Breeders Crown winner Anndrovette, Blissful Smile, Chancey Lady and Ginger And Fred.
The nine mares who will start in this year’s Forest City have earned a total of more than C$10.5 million in their careers. The post positions will be drawn next Tuesday at 9 a.m.
