Fort Silky upsets in Song Cycle Stake

Yonkers, NY — The old exploding toteboard was in evidence Monday night (April 11), with Yonkers Raceway seeing its largest win and Pick 4 payoffs of the season.

Trade Editor lit up the toteboard, paying $134.50 to win.

The 66-1 Trade Editor (Cat Manzi) blew away his rivals down the backside in the $25,000 ninth race pace, eventually winning by 1-1/2 lengths in an added-distance 2:00.3. His $134.50 win mutuel was the highest of the season, eclipsing — by a buck — that of Make A Bundle N in late February.

With the ninth race serving as the third leg of the late Pick 4, the only question was whether the winning wager would be a 4-of-4 or a 3-of-4. When McClelland (Jordan Stratton, $16) was a desperate nose winner in the $25,000 10th race pace (mile and one-sixteenth in 2:00.4), it resulted in a Pick-4 (all four) base $2 payoff of $27,464.

Note that the pool — a $15,000 guarantee is offered for the late Pick 4 every Saturday and Monday through April — was $18,310. So, after takeout, there was one winning $1 ticket worth $13,732.

By pool contrast, the early Pick 4 (races 3 through 6) had a total of $10,603.

The previous high Pick 4 of the season was $17,312 (base $2 wager), or a $1 payoff of $8,656.

Yonkers’ regular five-night-per-week schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) remains in effect. First post for all racing programs is 7:10 p.m. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule.
