Four divisions in NYSS Late Closers on Wednesday

Monticello, NY — New York Sire Stakes action returns to Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon, July 14. On that day over $52,000 is up for grabs in four $13,000 divisions of NYSS Late Closer events for sophomore pacing fillies. They will go as races one, five, six and eight on the card.

Many of the participating fillies are lightly raced at this time with only a scant few with 10 or more trips to the post.

The first division, race one on the card, features Dashboard Dancer, a Linda Toscano pupil owned by the Kovach Stables LLC with a 1:57.2 half-mile track record taken earlier this year at Freehold Raceway. Jimmy Marohn, Jr. will handle the driving chores when the Artiscape filly leaves from post seven.

V’la Faire, who stopped the timer at 1:57.3 at Buffalo Raceway on July 4, gets the nod in race five, the second NYSS Late Closer split. Trained by Richard Tomaszewski for the Oakhurst Farms, the daughter of Village Jove will get the driving services of Zeke Parker when she leaves from the three hole.

Paper Princess, whose competition on Wednesday will arguably be far less superior than what she has faced in her last four starts against top New York Sires Stakes company, may be in the right spot for redemption. The Freddie Monteleone-owned, Eddie Hart-trained daughter of Bettor’s Delight will have Jordan Stratton at the lines when she starts from post position six in race number six.

Perfectly Content, a daughter of Bettor’s Delight who was a 1:56.3 winner at Vernon Downs in early June, may be the one to beat in the last late NYSS Late Closer division, which will go as race eight. Trained by Jessica Okusko and owned by Purple Haze Stable, she will start from post six with Greg Merton at the controls.

Post time for the 15-race card will be at the usual 12:50 p.m.
