Fourth annual Camel & Ostrich Derby to take place at Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — On Friday (June 12), camels and ostriches will race to victory at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment for the fourth annual Camel & Ostrich Derby. Race lovers of all ages will head to the track for action-packed harness racing and live belly dancing entertainment. The track will host world renowned belly dancer Amira Mor of Amira Mor Performing Arts Center and her troop for an unparalleled night.

The much anticipated camel and ostrich races will take place during the live harness racing and enthralling belly dancing performances. Fans will watch the ostriches when they battle it out after race three with an approximate post time of 8:10 p.m. and the camels will take their marks after race eight with an approximate post time of 10 p.m.

The food court will open at 5 p.m. and guests can enjoy newly added Buns Sandwich and Chipz Cookies. Victory Sports Bar & Club and Pink, the tiered dining room with perfect views of the live racing action, will also be open. Pink will offer a buffet special for guests for $34.95. Table-side cocktail service compliments the delicious buffet, which includes fresh salads and a carving station. Space is limited and reservations are strongly recommended. The best seat in the house may be the track’s grandstand. Live harness racing will commence at 7:15 p.m. and fans can test their luck in Horseplay beginning at 6 p.m. Buy a horse for $1 and throw the horse into the car for a chance to win $100 and entry into the Aug. 8 car drawing for a 2015 Scion FRS. All proceeds in the month of June will be donated to the USA Pour Tour for Cancer Research.
