Fred Hudson to speak at the U.S. Capitol

Former driver/trainer Freddie Hudson, who co-wrote the Roosevelt Raceway book with Billy Haughton and Victoria Howard, will speak in Washington, D.C., at the Capitol on Tuesday (Sept. 29) at 11:30 a.m. He will be asking Congress to vote yes and pass the Safe American Food Export Act of 2015.

Under this act it will make the knowing sale or transport of equines or equine parts in interstate or foreign commerce for purposes of human consumption prohibited.

Hudson will be speaking on the west lawn of the Capitol Building along with several other equine advocacy experts including Simone Netherlands who is known worldwide as a leader in efforts to ban horse slaughter.

The ASPCA, the Animal Welfare Institute, the Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society Legislative Fund all support the passage of this bill.

The event — named “Safe Food – Safe Horses March to DC” — was organized by Nancy Watson and Rita Reik. A full press release can be read at this link.
