Freehold announces ‘Racing Toward Recovery Day’ and Hurricane Sandy Pace

from Freehold Raceway

Freehold, NJ — Freehold Raceway announced today that Saturday (Dec. 15) will be “Racing Toward Recovery Day” at Freehold.

Freehold will donate all net proceeds from live racing, projected to be more than $10,000, to The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The FoodBank has played a huge role in assisting Hurricane Sandy victims. To increase awareness of the event, the feature race has been named the Hurricane Sandy Pace.

Businesses and individuals are also invited to sponsor a race, with all sponsorship proceeds donated to The FoodBank. Currently pledging support are the Penn National Gaming Foundation and The Standardbred Breeders Association of New Jersey.

In addition, Freehold is encouraging patrons to donate non-perishable food items. Cash donations will be accepted as well. Freehold will offer a free live program to all patrons making a donation. Food items may also be donated at Freehold’s off track wagering facility, Favorites at Toms River.

The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties began in 1984 and today serves over 260 pantries, soup kitchens and other feeding programs with more than seven million pounds of food distributed annually.
