Freehold, NJ — Freehold Raceway held numerous qualifying races on Thursday (August 4) in preparation for the opening of its summer/fall meeting, which will commence on August 11.

A total of 24 qualifiers were raced, with 128 horses meeting qualifying standards. The fastest mile of the day was turned in by Freezer Cash, who blazed a mile in 1:55.3.

Freehold will be in high gear right from the inception of the new meeting. In addition to exciting live harness racing action, the central New Jersey oval will offer a new Pick 6 wager, beginning opening day. Fans will be required to correctly select the winners of the final six races on the card to win the top payout.

Also, Freehold will hold one of its ever-popular handicapping contests on the second day of the meeting, August 12. The contest will consist exclusively of Thoroughbred simulcast races, which will be determined by raceway management. Some spots for the contest are still available, and further information can be obtained by calling (732) 462-3800.

After the first week of the meeting, which will consist of three days of live racing from Thursday through Saturday, Freehold will conduct live racing on a Tuesday through Saturday schedule with a first post of 12:30 p.m.
