Freehold to host harness handicapping contest

Freehold, NJ — Freehold Raceway will be the site of a harness handicapping contest on Monday, January 15, 2007, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

The contest, which will be restricted to 100 entrants, will consist of the entire Freehold Raceway card of live racing.

The format for the contest will consist of $10 win and place wagers. Contestants must wager on a minimum of 10 races but may bet all of the races.

The total cost is $300, of which $100 will go toward prize money and the remaining $200 will be used as a betting stake. The contestants keep all pari-mutuel winnings and prize money will be paid out to the five handicappers with the highest bankrolls. The winner shall receive 50% of the prize money, followed by 25% for second, 12% for third, 8% for fourth and 5% for fifth.

The contest will take place in the popular Inside Track room in the clubhouse. Entrants will receive a program for the contest and will be treated to a lunch buffet.

One of the features of the contest is the special prize that will be awarded to the top two finishers. The top two will gain entry into the 2007 National Harness Handicapping Championship at the Meadowlands on April 21, 2007.

Mail in registrations for the contest must be made in advance and must be received, along with the $300 total cost, no later than January 12, 2007.
