Freshman fillies to spar in Ohio Sires Stakes

Columbus, OH — A field of 22 Ohio Sires Stakes freshman pacing fillies will go postward Friday night (July 24) at Scioto Downs in a trio of races, each sporting a purse of $40,000. This is the second leg of action in the four-round series for the Buckeye State’s top Ohio-breds.

Ohio-registered stallions represented by progeny in these three races include 10 each by first crop sire Racing Hill and Well Said, with three by McArdle and two by Nob Hill High. Stallions represented by one foal each include Arthur Blue Chip, Domethatagain, Pet Rock, Rockin Amadeus, The Panderosa, Western Vintage and Yankee Cruiser.

In the first OSS division (race two) Leave Her Wild will try to repeat her performance from leg one. The daughter of Domethatagain posted a 1:55.1 clocking in that first OSS effort for driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and owner-trainer Danielle Snyder and also has another overnight victory to her credit, with $23,400 in career earnings. Mike Wilder gets the call in the bike this week.

A trio of OSS winners face off in the second division (race 10). Lady Arthur was the fastest of the three with a 1:53.2 score for trainer Ian Moore and driver Wrenn. Owned by Moore, R G McGroup and Serge Savard, this homebred daughter of Arthur Blue Chip has $22,738 in career earnings.

The final OSS contest of the night (race 12) is more wide open, headed up by Gucci from post one. Owned by Tim Homan, this bay daughter of Nob Hill High is trained by Christi Noble and was a strong second to Winella Hanover in that leg one contest, which was clocked in 1:55.
