Chester, PA — Tuesday (June 11) morning saw 100 2-year-olds face starter Norton Shoemaker at Harrah’s Philadelphia, contesting 13 qualifying heats over a fast track.

A Plus Hanover (Well Said-Allamerican Coed) set the bar high in the first race of the morning, rallying late to pass Suits (Matt’s Scooter-Irma La Douce) in a 1:55.3 mile — the fastest 2-year-old qualifier of the day — under Tim Tetrick for trainer Mark Harder.

Hot Shot Hayden (SJ’s Caviar-No Inhibitions) re-rallied from an early break to record the fastest freshman trotting mile of the session, with the Arlene Cameron trainee finishing in 2:00.3 in rein to John Wagner.

A trio of Roland “Polie” Mallar trainees stood out, with Gymokee Jerry (The Panderosa-Simply Liz, 1:56.4, David Miller), Shesaidhesaidisaid (Well Said-Lucky Irma, 1:58.4, Cat Manzi), and Mr De Luca (Art Major-Western Scorch, 2:01.3, David Miller) all winning their splits.

Also, the Don Milby-trained Major Uptrend (Somebeachsomewhere-Tricky Tooshie) unleashed a :27.3 final quarter — fastest of the morning session — en route to a 1:58.2 mile with Frank Milby at the lines.
