Monticello, NY — Over $160,000 will be up for grabs for 2-year-old filly pacers in the New York Sire Stakes at Monticello Raceway on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15.

As the 2010 NYSS season nears its ending the fillies will be fighting for a berth in the $175,000 final at Yonkers Raceway on Saturday, Sept. 25, and those who have entered are this year’s cream of the crop.

In the first $53,609 division, four-time winner City Delight has earned the morning line favorite status. A 1:54.2 clocking at Yonkers Raceway in NYSS action on August 31 is the Bettor’s Delight filly’s current record. Owned by W.J. Donavan and Joe Sbrocco, trainer Paul Kelley will hand the lines to Jason Bartlett when City Delight starts from post position three in race number one.

Mat Meinzinger’s My Girls A Star, off a solid 1:56 victory in NYSS action at Batavia Downs in her last start on Sept. 8, will definitely be the one to beat in the $54,609 second division, race five on the program. Trained and driven by Ray Schnittker, My Girls A Star has a seasonal bankroll in excess of $120,000 on the strength of seven wins in nine seasonal starts, her fastest a 1:52.2 clocking at Vernon Downs on August 13. This bay daughter of Art Major will leave from the six hole in the seven-horse field.

The final $54,609 split will go as race eight and has the undefeated See You At Peelers, a Jimmy Takter pupil, as the 6-5 morning line favorite, despite having to start on the far outside in post position seven. Her fastest victory is a 1:51.3 NYSS triumph at Vernon Downs on August 21 and she comes into this contest off a 1;56.4 victory at Yonkers Raceway on Sept. 8. Owned by Christina Takter and John and Jim Fielding, the Bettor’s Delight filly will have Jimmy Morrill, Jr. at the controls.

Post time for the 15-race card on Wednesday is 12:50 p.m.
