Gaitway Guy remains unbeaten, wins $100k DSBF final

Harrington, DE — The GTY Stable’s Gaitway Guy ($2.10, Corey Callahan) was a 1:56 winner in the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) final for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings.

The Jeff Smith trainee made his usual first-over charge near the three-quarters en route to a five-length win over Night Terror and Bad Boy Too. The Delmarvalous gelding remains undefeated, having won all four of his career stars to date.

Jo Ann Looney-King’s Sweetest Swing ($9.00, Art Stafford Jr.) won the $20,000 DSBF consolation for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings in 1:56.1.

In the overnight feature, a $50,000 Open named to honor the memory of longtime Delaware legislator Bobby Quillen, who passed away in 2004, was won by George and Tina Dennis’ Mack ($2.60, Mike Cole), who emerged a 1:52 winner from the pocket over Major Betts and Movin On Up. It was the fifth win of the season for the Mach Three 5-year-old, who is trained by Joe Columbo. It was also one of four winners on the card for Cole, three of which were trained by Columbo, the meet’s leading conditioner. Allan Davis also had four wins on the card.

Montrell Teague and Jason Thompson each had a pair of wins.
