Saratoga Springs, NY — A full week of New York Sire Stakes action at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway got started on Tuesday (August 3) when the 3-year-old pacing fillies took center stage on a rainy night. There were three divisions of the $83,000-plus stakes for the state’s top young ladies on the 14-race card.

Galimony’s 1:55 clocking was the fastest of the three NYSS divisions.

The Stake Your Claim Stable’s Galimony (Artiscape) was the fastest winner of the stakes races as Jim Morrill, Jr. put the Linda Toscano trainee on the engine at the start and they would cruise to victory at 1-5 odds, stopping the timer in 1:55 over a track labeled “sloppy.”

Patrick Lachance’s Hula’s Z Tam continued her remarkable career on Tuesday, winning for the tenth time in 13 races as she outclosed the field for a 1:56.2 win, also released at odds of 1-5. The Bettor’s Delight filly has yet to finish worse than second in her young career en route to more than $445,000 in lifetime earnings.

Morrill also piloted the third and final stakes winner on the night as Max’s Leading Lady cruised to a wire-to-wire win in 1:56.1. The victory was the second straight for the Art Major filly who is trained by Robert Horowitz.

The New York Sire Stakes return to Saratoga on Wednesday night (August 4) when 3-year-old trotting fillies are featured. First post time is set for 7:20 p.m.
