George Musolff, 87, dies

Columbus, OH — George Arthur Musolff, 87, died July 11, 2014, at Saratoga Hospital.

Born on Aug. 20, 1926, in Amsterdam, N.Y., he was the son of the late George Otto and Lillian (Smith) Musolff.

He graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1944 and served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. After the service he went to work at Mohasco Industries for many years as a general foreman.

Mr. Musolff had a great love for horses and dogs. He was a Standardbred trainer and driver, having trained and driven top pacer Whiteys Fella, a winner of $448,605.

He also enjoyed golfing, sailing, jogging, biking, walking, motorcycling, hockey and playing the guitar.

Mr. Musolff is survived by his wife, Carmel; children, Judith (Samuel) English, Linda Felton, Diane Murray, Susan (Jon Perry) Simser and George (Charlene); step-children, Patrick Gautier and Renee Fred; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Morano; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved beagles Biscuit and Jack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Jeffrey Felton and Richard Murray.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday (July 17) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday (July 18) at the Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Rd., South Glens Falls. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
