Nichols, NY — Get Lit (Jim Taggart Jr.) and Nextroundsonme (Wally Hennessey) grabbed their respective co-features at Tioga Downs on Sunday (Aug. 7).

Get Lit ($29.00) charged late to capture the $13,000 Open Pace.

Agedchedar Hanover grabbed the early lead, but was overpowered by J B Mauney N before the end of a :27.3 first quarter. Rebellious, who got away third, brushed to the lead with a lap to go and brought the half back to :56.4. Meanwhile, Get Lit began his first-up attack out of fourth approaching the backstretch and advanced into a shoulder-to-shoulder duel with Rebellious, who maintained a short lead to three-quarters in 1:23.4.

As they made the turn for home, Get Lit had worn down Rebellious and took control. Second-place finisher J B Mauney N came charging late but could only watch from 1-3/4 lengths behind as Get Lit won in a seasonal best of 1:52.2. Hard Rock Hulk came up to finish third.

Get Lit is a 5-year-old gelding by Sweet Lou owned by Megan Beauchamp and trained by Bruce Clarke. It was his second win this season and his 12th career victory.

Nextroundsonme ($3.70) took the $12,000 Open Trot.

Golden Kronos was first to the quarter in :28.3 before yielding to Nextroundsonme heading to the stands for the first time. Nextroundsonme rated middle fractions of :57.4 and 1:26 before Golden Kronos re-emerged from the pocket heading for home. Nextroundsonme dug in and won easily in 1:54.4. Can’t Say No came flying late to finish second, three-quarters of a length behind. Crossfit Mouse was third best.

Nextroundsonme is a 6-year-old gelding by Cantab Hall owned by José Cervantes and trained by Jenny Melander. It was his fifth win of 2022. He now owns 22 career victories.

Mike Merton and Jim Taggart Jr. and had driving triples on the day. Kevin Reynolds Jr. had a training double.
