Get your 2-year-old on the right track at Rosecroft

by Scott Warren, for Rosecroft Raceway

Ft. Washington, MD — Rosecroft Raceway will be qualifying three times in the month of June.

We will be qualifying on Saturdays, June 6, June 20, and June 27 at 10:30 a.m. The entry box for each qualifying day will close two days prior on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. The cost will once again be $20 per horse. Qualifiers will be open to all horses, while 2-year-olds will be grouped together accordingly.

The decision to qualify three times in the month of June was to accomadate requests from local horsemen in the Mid-Atlantic region. The month of June is when the youngsters come out in full force to begin their racing careers.

Locally based trainer George Teague, Jr. said, “Every year I look forward to taking my 2-year olds to Rosecroft to qualify because the track is ideal for a horse to learn how to race before it has to go big miles in pari-mutuel races and the racing surface is one of the best around.”

Millionaire superstars such as Rainbow Blue ($1,428,934), Sanabelle Island ($1,641,676), Total Truth ($2,015,433), and Vivid Photo ($3,045,758) all competed in their first qualifying race at Rosecroft Raceway.

Any horseman with questions or who wants to place entries can contact the Race Office at (301) 567-4000, ext. 213 or by e-mail at swarren@rosecroft.com.
