Keith Gisser offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-4 at Northfield Park on June 6, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program. Northfield Park Pick-4, Races 8-11, Monday, June 6, 2011 This past Wednesday (June 1) our $48 play hit the Pick-4 and with the help of a carryover, we got back $99 and change. Remember the posted Northfield Pick-4 payout is based on a $2 wager. That moves us back into the black overall, but we still haven’t hit a huge one. The $10K guaranteed Pick-4 comes with a 14 percent takeout (the pool has been in the $17-18K range most recent nights). Tonight’s Pick-4 has a $3,710-plus carryover. $1 play: 34567/256/69/5 = $30
$1 play: all/5/6/45 = $18
Analysis:
Race 8: A wide open affair. If not for the $50 limit I self-impose, I would simply have hit all, a $54 play, and hoped for a longshot.
Race 9: (5) Mainline Hall appears the best on paper, but if (2) Scoozi can trip out, he becomes a factor. (6) Dm Fatboy Slim may be too far outside to contend.
Race 10: (6) SF Dynamite cruised in his local debut; ignore Stahl choosing off, he always goes to the Hamlet/Osborne horses. (9) Cruise On Osborne may have met his match here, but must be used.
Race 11: (5) Spit Happens has dominated in recent Northfield appearances. (4) Australian Stock is a nice horse who has had trouble with Northfield’s surface in the past. I have to throw him on a few tickets as a “just in case.”
