Rose’s Picks: June 6 YR

by Matt Rose

Matt Rose offers his picks for the $20,000 Pick-4 at Yonkers Raceway on June 6, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Monday, June 6, 2011

Last Monday’s Pick-4 payout proved why it is such a great bet. The largest price in the sequence was $14.80, and that was on M D Bee Bee, who happens to hail from the powerful Lou Pena/George Brennan connections. A $2 ticket on four locigal horses came back over a thousand dollars. Needless to say, I didn’t have it.

$1 Play: 127/234/47/1 = $18

Analysis:

Race 7: (2) Shes Wicked Good arrived from Chicago, was saddled with an outside post and never got involved. Expect her to be much better tonight in her second trip over the track. (7) Rosa Sharks blew away a weaker field last week and appeared to be shut down late. She’s an obvious threat to repeat. (1) No Faultz was a game front end winner in her seasonal debut up at Saratoga. Art Major filly out of the hard-knocking mare Mariana’s Trench had some stakes experience as a 2-year-old.

Race 8: (4) Lady Yachtsman took the tough route home to victory last out, gamely wearing down the pacesetter with a long uncovered trip. A repeat versus better is not impossible. (2) Hi Maintenancechic has been facing tons better recently with some limited results. Expect this filly to attract plenty of attention at the windows. (3) Crazy Luv Bug ships from Chester off a solid off-the-pace score and she can certainly be considered.

Race 9: (4) King Of Kings has disappointed of late, but he drops in class here and should be sent hard from the gate. (7) Shadows Dream picks up Brennan for his local return. The gelding is a stablemate of Vlos, who has proven to be a top-caliber veteran.

Race 10: (1) Shortstacked was my key horse last week, was not driven like I expected but still proved game for second money. With the rail slot tonight, I would believe he has zero excuses.
