Giwner and Ciuffetelli are NAADA Trot winners at Yonkers

Monticello, NY — The second leg of the North American Amateur Drivers Fall Trotting Series went on Thursday (Oct. 7) in two divisions at Yonkers Raceway and when the judges declared the events official Derick Giwner and Anthony Ciuffetelli won their respective divisions.

Giwner, the editor of Harness Eye, scored with Christy Rae in 2:03 and Ciuffetelli won with Bank On Rosie in 2:03.2.

In his split, Giwner coasted along in fourth position until the three-quarters and was still four lengths off the leader Anahar Charlie, with Laura MacNamara driving. The professional scribe got after his mare and they rallied in the lane and then held off a late charge by TK Lindy and Bob Krivelin to score a one length triumph. MacNamara and Anahar Charlie faded and finished third.

Ciuffetelli’s ride was somewhat similar in that he and Bank On Rosie were content to let others set the fractions as they kept mired in the middle of the pack in the early going.

But a move from fourth up the backstretch placed Bank On Rosie second on the outside as she and Zann Fancisco Bay and Harvey Stein raced side by side into the final turn. However, in the lane it was all Ciuffetelli and Bank On Rosie as they charged home a one length winner. Zann Fancisco Bay held on for second while Round About and Bob Gray took home the show dough.

The next leg of the NAADA Trotting Series will be contested at Monticello Raceway on October 14.
