GLADA amateurs set to go to the post

by Patricia Miller, for the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association

Hazel Park, MI — A full field of drivers will face the starter and fly away from the gate as the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association amateurs take to the track on Monday (June 17) at Hazel Park. Eager to trip the camera and accumulate points and glory, a talented list of reinsmen and women are plotting the race and their chances and opportunities.

This week the lucky one hole belongs to last year’s champion driver Richard Roach, steering the Jeff Pickvet trainee Crown Glory. Next to him will be Patricia Miller with her own Hay Look Out, then Cacao Rust, trained by Al Tomlinson and driven by last week’s place finisher Kara Buxton, and Pat Currie’s own Lock Her N Cruz.

A perennial favorite and tough competitor, trained by George Ursitti and driven by Larry Steenbergen, Miss Tiger Lily will try for her place in the winner’s circle. Next out is Garbarino, trained and driven by Maurice Goldschmidt, Jr.

But watch out for last week’s winner Mike Mitchell, driving that smoking Smokin Steven, trained by John Bangert. The eight hole belongs to Ericskarri, a new entrant trained by Joe Cirasuola and driven by club president Steve Oldford. And out in the cool, hopefully dry Michigan air, comes Score Card, who will leave hard for driver/trainer Junior Cole.

Any bettor’s eye can see this is one tough field and the race will be fast and furious and highly competitive. Be there.
