Glen Kidwell, 92, dies

Chicago, IL — Glen Kidwell, 92, one of the top driver/trainers in the sport in the 1960s, died Feb. 18, 2014.

According to USTA records, Mr. Kidwell drove 1,120 winners in his career to earnings of $3,049,773. Among the top horses he was associated with were Active Donna V p,4,2:00f ($188,725) and Active Don p,3,1:58.4 ($80,445), the first 2:00 2-year-old in the state of Illinois.

“Glen was one of the top trainer/drivers in the 1960s and was one of the leading figures in Chicago harness racing for many years,” said USTA president Phil Langley. “He will be missed.”

Mr. Kidwell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maurine; two children; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters; and one brother.

The family will hold a private memorial at the cemetary.
