Northfield, OH — Glory Bound, driven by Bruce Sturgeon, posted his second straight Open Trot win at Northfield on Monday night, racing first-over from before the half and holding off a fast-closing Sheffield in the stretch. Glory Bound was a neck winner in 1:58.2 with Incredibly Fast getting the show spot.

Time Inthe Box set the early fractions as Ken Holliday posted splits of :28.2, :58.2 and 1:28 before yielding to the winner. Glory Bound got away third from his assigned post seven and made his move exiting the top turn going to the half.

The Dee Hotton-trainee has now won five of 11 on the season, banking $24,885. His career bankroll is just shy of $400,000 for owners Hotton, Jerry Shapiro and Rob Grodin.

In stark contrast to Saturday, when only five drivers won races, 11 pilots visited the winner’s circle on Monday. Aaron Merriman had a triple and Greg Grismore posted two wins, while nine pilots, including Wall of Famer Bill Irvine, had single tallies.
