Goshen Yearling Sale offers many talented prospects

by Tim Bojarski, for the Goshen Yearling Sale

Middletown, NY — If you listen to conversations around the track as well as on social media, the fourth annual Goshen Yearling Sale has the deepest pool of talent it has ever offered. Between top breeding farms, established and desirable first year sires and broodmares from big money lines, this sale has the opportunity to produce race horses that will make headlines in the near future.

The Goshen Yearling Sale will be held at noon on Sunday (Sept. 9) at the Mark Ford Training Center located at 90 Slaughter Road, Middletown, N.Y.

The consignors are excited to make their talent available and have some opinions about who they like the best from their offerings.

Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky-Farm Manager-Hanover Shoe Farm

“This is the first chance to purchase a yearling from the first crop of the fastest trotter of all time: Sebastian K. It’s the filly (58) Demimonde Hanover (Sebastian K-Daddy’s Lhasa) and she is beautiful.

“We are also selling three fillies from the first crop of Artspeak featuring the beautiful looking (40) Sanction Hanover (Artspeak-Singnoevil Hanover).

“I consider our top pacing colt to be (45) Sojourner Hanover (Roll With Joe-Society’s Child) whose dam is a sister to Riggins. He’s a striking colt.

“We have a very nice group of trotting colts also. (38) Whiz Bang Hanover (RC Royalty-Whotookwhat), whose mother earned in excess of $600,000 and (87) Linger Hanover (RC Royalty-Lady Bar) whose dam foaled a millionaire and several other nice horses.

“We also have (43) Altus Hanover (Crazed-Audra Hall) who is an extremely handsome colt who reminds me a lot of Tirade Hanover as a yearling and (51) Boromir Hanover (Explosive Matter-Brown Velvet) who is a very nice looking colt.”

Steve Jones-Farm Manager- Cameo Hills Farm

“We have several nice looking, well-bred yearlings to sell at Goshen this year. The trotters are headed by (25) Terrestrial Hall (Credit Winner-Venus Hall) and (31) Play Trix On Me (Trixton-Lima Playmate) who are both good looking colts.

“On the pacing side (26) Cigars And Port (So Surreal-Sweet On Art) and (23) Splash Brother (So Surreal-Sugarcoated) are very nice as is (34) Go For The Green (Art Major -Love The Game).

“My best pacing fillies are (20) Eye Popping (So Surreal-Paramelons Hanover) and (73) Snob (American Ideal-Pedigree Snob).

“This consignment is certainly the strongest group of yearlings that I have ever sold in Goshen.”

Garrett Bell-Winbak Farm-General Manager

“We are excited about our lineup. We have a number of very nice looking Heston Blue Chips and Bolt The Duers. This is Bolt’s first crop and they look like they are made for the New York tracks.

“From Heston Blue Chip, (63) Elegant Noelle (Heston Blue Chip-Elegant Girl) is put together well, vey full bodied. (89) Latin King (Heston Blue Chip-Latin Liftoff) is a nice big colt. (119) Frills And Lace (Heston Blue Chip-Princess Lace) is a long, leggy, nice sized filly and (121) Finely Tuned (Heston Blue Chip-Puccini Blue Chip) is a nice bodied filly out of a sister to Gallo Blue Chip.

“Leading the way for Bolt The Duer, (48) Blue Ray Willie (Bolt The Duer-Blue Rae) is a very nice colt, (93) Scotty D (Bolt The Duer-Leavea Smile) is a nice strong, leggy colt and (102) Bankers Vault (Bolt The Duer-Margie’s Song) is a nice strong colt that is put together very well and his mother is a sister to Nihilator.

“I also like (68) American Rose (American Ideal-Santino’s Rose) who is a big strong filly.”

Jean Brown-Blue Chip Farm-General Manager

“Blue Chip does have an attractive 2018 Goshen consignment. Seven out of the 12 yearlings in Blue Chip’s consignment are out of dams that have won in excess of $100,000 and are by New York’s leading pacing and trotting sires.

“Art Major is the leading money winning sire of 2-year-olds in the 2018 New York Sire Stakes program to date and American Ideal is the top sire of 3-year-olds for the same period.

“Six of Blue Chip’s offerings are by those sires including (19) Special Achiever (American Ideal-I’m Just Special) who is a full sister to Mink Pink who was a winner of five consecutive Excelsior legs to date this year with total earnings of $64,000.

“We are also selling the filly (10) Rolln Luv Bluechip (Roll With Joe-Glam Cam) who is a first foal out of the $164,000 winning dam Glam Cam and the colt (6) Scarletsandseven (Chapter Seven-Scarlet Fever) who is another first-foal from his dam.”

Boxwood Farm-Taylor Palmer-Farm Owner

“We have a couple trotting colts we feel will make solid race horses. They are well bred, well-built and have solid blood lines.

“(110) Gumby (Muscle Mass-Pacific Elegance) is a good looking colt who is a bother to Crosby’s Clam Bake. He’s well mannered, has good conformation and is a bit taller with a lot of leg.

“(117) Unpaid Advisor (Chapter Seven-Pole Dancer) comes from a good maternal family. His third dam is world champion Beat The Wheel who has also thrown a world champion, Beatgoeson Hanover.

“Both colts come from good families and I think they will get a lot of interest.”
