Grand Circuit Report: November 20, 2012

This Week: The 2012 Grand Circuit season has concluded. The 2013 schedule will be announced in January.

Last time: Doug McNair piloted heavily favored Pet Rock to the victory in the $215,000 Windy City Pace for 3-year-old colts, the featured race on the Friday (Nov. 16) Grand Circuit card at Maywood. They defeated Dynamic Youth (Andrew McCarthy) by 1-3/4 lengths in a time of 1:51.4. A Rocknroll Dance was third for David Miller.

Pet Rock was a 1:51.4 winner in the Windy City Pace.

In the other Grand Circuit stakes, Market Share went over the $2 million mark in season’s earnings as Tim Tetrick piloted him to victory lane in the $108,000 Galt Stakes for 3-year-old colt trotters. Market Share scored in 1:54.4 by 3-3/4 lengths over Lindys Jersey Boy (Daniel Dube). Appomattox (David Miller) was third.

Our Dragon King (Brian Carpenter) captured the $110,000 Abe Lincoln for 2-year-old pacing colts by a half-length over Blatantly Best (Marcus Miller) with Big Brad (Robert Smolin) third. The winning time was 1:54.2.

In the $83,000 Cinderella for 3-year-old pacing fillies, Big McDeal and Jody Jamieson scored a narrow victory in a time of 1:51.4, scoring by a nose over Eighthunrdolarbill (David Miller). Blackjack Princess (Daniel Dube) was a neck back in third.

Grand Circuit Driving Standings: Tim Tetrick captured his second Grand Circuit driving title as he topped the final standings with 35 victories. Yannick Gingras finished in second place with 22 victories. David Miller was in third place with 20 triumphs. Ron Pierce checked in fourth with 14 wins. Dave Palone finished in fifth place with 13 victories. John Campbell, Andy Miller, Jim Morrill, Jr., Brian Sears and Jimmy Takter were tied for sixth place with eight victories apiece.
