Grand Circuit Report: Week of Nov. 15, 2009

This Week: Maywood Park Grand Circuit, Maywood Park, Melrose Park, Illinois

Schedule of events: Grand Circuit action will be conducted at Maywood Park on Friday night (November 20). The $275,000 (est.) Windy City Pace for 3-year-olds headlines the Friday card. Also on the program is the $150,000 (est.) Galt Memorial for sophomore colt trotters, the $150,000 (est.) Abe Lincoln for 2-year-old pacing colts and the $100,000 (est.) Cinderella for second season pacing fillies. The Maywood Park stop marks the final Grand Circuit action for 2009.

Last time: Tim Tetrick won a pair of American-National events at the Grand Circuit’s stop last Saturday (November 14) at Balmoral Park. Tetrick was in victory lane behind Yellow Diamond in the $185,000 3-year-old filly pace and Gigglicious in the $154,000 2-year-old filly pace.

The other American-National races were captured by Straight Shooting and George Brennan ($265,000 3-year-old colt pace); Won The West and Dave Palone ($200,000 Open Pace); OK Commander and Brian Sears ($180,000 2-year-old colt pace); and Lanson and Mike Lachance ($150,000 Open Trot).

Grand Circuit Driving Standings: Jim Morrill, Jr. continues to lead in the Grand Circuit driving standings with 31 wins in 2009. Tim Tetrick is in second place with 27 victories. Brian Sears ranks third with 26 wins. Ron Pierce holds down fourth place with 23 victories. David Miller is in fifth place with 20 wins. Dave Palone ranks sixth with 18 victories. John Campbell is seventh with 15 triumphs. George Brennan and Mike Lachance are tied for eighth place with 11 wins each; and Daniel Dube rounds out the top ten with nine triumphs.

Looking ahead: The next Grand Circuit release (and the last one for 2009) will be sent on Monday, November 23, after the Maywood Park Grand Circuit.
