Loreenas Ruffian sold for $160,000 at the Blooded Horse Sale.

Consigned by Hickory Lane Farm, agent, the daughter of McArdle-She’s A Ruff One was purchased by Virgil Morgan Jr., acting as agent for Ohio owners Carl Howard, Dick and Joyce McClelland and AWS Stable. The purchase price was $160,000.

The filly was purchased first to race in Ohio and then branch out as her schedule allows. She was a winner this year in a Bluegrass Stakes division at Red Mile.

“The Ohio program is so good now, that we really don’t have to leave the state next year,” Morgan said. “But she’ll likely have some Grand Circuit races as well. She’s already won against open company at Pocono, Tioga and Lexington.”

Loreenas Ruffian will be turned out at Eli Miller’s Spring Run Farm until the end of December when she will resume training to prepare for the first Ohio Sires Stakes leg in early May.

The Blooded Horse Sale is experiencing its strongest sale in 69 years. The sale continues Thursday with 300 horses cataloged.
