Agriculture and NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund grant applications being accepted

Schenectady, NY – The Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund announced Friday (Feb. 1) that it is now accepting applications for grant awards from certified 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organizations. Grant awards made available by the Fund for this year total up to $150,000. The grant application can be found at www.nysirestakes.com/forms.

Grant proposals from eligible organizations must be received by the Fund no later than March 1, 2019. Organizations that are interested are asked to review the Application and the Fund’s Grants Policy to determine their eligibility.

The Fund will review each grant request submitted and invite those organizations that meet the eligibility requirements to make a presentation at a board meeting this spring. Grants will be awarded based on the strength of proposal, the availability of resources and meeting the statutorily mandated Mission of the Fund. Grant awardees will be sent written notification including deadlines for submission of expenditure reports.

About the Agriculture and New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund:
The Agriculture & NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund is a public benefit corporation established in 1965 by the Laverne Law (Laws of New York, Chapter 567 of the Laws of 1965). The mission of the fund is to promote agriculture through the breeding of Standardbred horses and the conduct of equine research within the state. To carry out its legislative mission, the Fund administers the New York Sire Stakes races, Excelsior/State Fair Series races, and County Fair Races.
