Timeout Fitz (Fitzmagic-Time Travel) and driver Charles Taylor set a new track record for two-year-old colt trotters in 2:04.1, breaking the previous mark of 2:04.3 set by Noble Joshua in 1996 and then equaled by Katkin And Coke in 2016.

Taylor set sail from the rail position with Timeout Fitz, only to yield to longshot Bluemoon Glide (Rick Dobson) in front of the grandstands. But down the backstretch, Taylor pulled back outside and eventually collared his foe in the stretch to win by a half-length margin. The win marked the fourth career victory, as well as a new lifetime mark for the colt. Timeout Fitz is owned and trained by John Goodyear and was bred in Michigan by Harvey Byler.

In the two-year-old colts and geldings pacer division, Two Birds Onestone (Back Daniels–She B Jeebeez), remained perfect, winning for the 12th straight time in his 12th career start, in a final clocking of 1:59.2 by eight lengths. Two Birds Onestone has now amassed career purse earnings totaling $134,633 for owner Carl Putnam Jr, who had the reins and handles the conditioning.  Brian Boring and Jennifer Vollmer are the gelding’s breeders.

The two-year-old filly pacing division saw Grey Lingerie (Western Thorn–It’s a Sham) win for the seventh consecutive time in 2022 and for the eighth time in her career with driver Rick Dobson holding the reins for trainer Monica Krist, owners Teresa Marotta, Rick Dobson, and Melissa Lynn Kesler and breeder Libby Myers of Michigan. Grey Lingerie won by 6-1/4 lengths and stopped the timer in 2:01.2. The win pushed the filly’s career purse total to $110,340.

And in the filly trotting division, driver/trainer Kim Pluta and Cody’s Deal (Do The Deal-Cody’s Revenge) went on to win by four and a half lengths in 2:04.1, after getting away third to the half before coming first up down the backside to win going away. It was the sixth career victory for the trotting filly who is owned by Kathy Todd. Cody’s Deal has now garnered career earnings of $79,417.

Northville Downs live racing resumes Saturday (Oct. 1), with four non-wagering divisions of the Great Lake Stakes for three-year-olds, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and then 12 pari-mutuel dashes starting at 7:30 p.m. Northville Downs races every Friday and Saturday night from now through December 17th.
