Greenshoe yearlings excluded by “Gural rule”

Vernon, NY — The Harry M. Zweig Memorial Trot includes the Stallion Restriction Condition (SRC), better known as the “Gural rule,” within its stakes conditions.

When yearling payments on the foals of 2021 were taken this May, nominations for yearlings by Greenshoe were mistakenly accepted. Those yearlings are not eligible for nomination, the payments are in the process of being refunded and all of the foals of 2021 by Greenshoe are not eligible to race in the Zweig or any stake that includes the SRC in the stake conditions as a 2- or 3-year-old.

Those stakes include: Kindergarten Classic, Peter Haughton Memorial, Jim Doherty Memorial, Goldsmith Maid, Valley Victory, Reynolds Stakes, Tompkins-Geers Stakes, Del Miller Memorial, and Stanley Dancer Memorial.

Those foals of 2021 will be eligible for nomination and to race in all SRC stakes for horses aged 4 years and up.

The SRC exclusion affects the first crop only.
