Grey Ghost & Poltergeist Pace contested at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs hosted the Grey Ghost & Poltergeist Pace for all grey or roan horses on what is traditionally known as Mischief Night (Oct. 30).

A field of eight ghostly greys were led in post parade by outrider Gary Scott, dressed as the Headless Horseman.

Gotta Love Him set a new lifetime mark of 1:52.2.

Favorite Gotta Love Him shot out of the gate, driven by Matt Kakaley, and never looked back. The Cindy Weitoish-trained gelding set fractions of :26.1, :55.3 and 1:24 and won in a photo finish with the late-charging Six Gun, with Joe Bongiorno in the bike, to set a new lifetime mark of 1:52.2.

Express Jet, trained by Joe Pavia, Jr. and driven by Ron Pierce, finished third, followed by Monticello-shipper Working Stiffs, trained by Robert Lounsbury and driven by Aaron Byron.

Children of Pocono horsemen presented the winning trophy.
