Lexington, KY — Hambletonian Oaks champion All The Time, in her first appearance since undergoing emergency colic surgery the day after her win in the Aug. 6 trotting classic at the Meadowlands, won a qualifier Tuesday morning (Oct. 4) at Red Mile.

With trainer Jimmy Takter in the sulky, All The Time bested recent Charles Smith winner Dominion Beach by a half-length in 1:52.1.

“Wow! What a filly!” Takter told The Horseman as he climbed out of the sulky afterward. “To do what she’s done, it’s just amazing. Just amazing. I have goosebumps right now.”

About 14 hours after capturing the Oaks, All The Time became stricken and was taken to the Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center where surgery was performed. Following the surgery, Takter said he believed All The Time was just 50-50 to ever race again, let alone come back this year.

“It’s shocking,” Takter said Tuesday morning. “Nobody (expected her back). She almost died.”

Takter said All The Time will qualify again on Oct. 14 at the Meadowlands, which will then lead into the Breeders Crown eliminations on Oct. 22 at the Big M.

“If she wins the Breeders Crown she is the Horse of the Year,” he said with a laugh. “Without a doubt.”

All The Time is a homebred owned by Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld. A daughter of Muscle Hill, All The Time has 11 wins in 19 career races with $827,616 in earnings.
