Hammer smashes the $300,000 mark in PASS Fair Circuit

by Millard S. Beatty III, USHWA Keystone Chapter

Roger Hammer took Amulet Farms by storm this past Saturday, Sept. 12, even though it was decent weather day, by winning six out of 17 races, while passing the $300,000 mark as a driver and trainer on the PASS Fair Circuit.

Hammer hit the $300,000 mark first as a trainer, taking his own 3-year-old filly, Bell On Wheels, to a 2:01.1 mark in the fifth race of the day in the second division of the PASS sophomore filly pace. Bell On Wheels scored for the 16th straight time and remains undefeated to this date on the Fair Circuit.

Hammer then cracked the $300,000 mark as a driver in the 11th race, taking the Walter Dunn trainee Cantab Lady to a second place finish in the second division of the PASS 2-year-old filly trot.

There were a total of five new track records, two marks that tied the previous mark, and a mile that went in 1:59.3 by the 3-year-old pacer Lahaye. With Lahaye winning for the 14th time in a row without a defeat on the PASS Fair Circuit, the pacer passed the $50,000 mark for earnings.

Here are the top five drivers on the PASS Fair Circuit as of Sept. 13, 2009.
