East Rutherford, NJ — Under beautiful summer skies and temperatures in the high 60’s, another GSY Amateurtrot event was held with seven trotters going to post at The Meadowlands on Friday (June 16).

In this particular event, there were only twohorses that left the gate and everyone else fell into position before thequarter stanza. Hannah Miller, aboardPanana Republic was first from the start of the race until the finish. She went out for the lead from post positionsix and carved out sensible fractions to the quarter and half-mile poles.

Miller did get a mild challenge on the outsideat the half-mile by Gonna Fly, driven by Allen Sisco, but once he didn’t getby, Miller put her horse into another gear en route to a five-length romp.

What made this race even more impressive washer final win time of 1:53.3. It is believed this isone of the fastest amateur trotting miles timed in the U.S. Miller also won another amateur event, a NAADArace, that was held just two hours earlier at Yonkers Raceway.

War Cry Hall, with Bob Hechkoff holding thelines, got up for second in a three-way photo, a nose ahead of third place finisherHyway Marcus, with Roy Marohn at the helm.
