Hanover, PA — Hanover Shoe Farms will be freeze branding their 2022 foals.

“Russell and I view the microchip as the primary means of identification of Standardbreds,” said Dr. Bridgette Jablonsky, executive vice president. “We also believe that as technology progresses microchips will become much more than a means of identification and will become an equine passport. However, we also realize that horses may find themselves in certain situations where they are more easily identified by their freeze brand than their microchip. For that reason, we have decided to apply a freeze brand to each of our 2022 foals at the time their microchip is implanted. We are grateful for the opportunity to identify our horses in this dual fashion.”
