Harness Racing Replays 2.0 announces Second Annual National Caretaker Award Contest

Springboro, OH – Harness Racing Replays 2.0 on Facebook is proud to announce its 2nd Annual National Caretaker Award Contest.

“We at Harness Racing Replays love to give back to our horse community,” said Harness Racing Replay 2.0’s Ken Terpenning. “The most important job in harness racing, without a doubt, is the caretaker. Caretakers (grooms) handle the equine stars daily, 365 days a year. They do the rubbing, feeding, scrubbing, loving, etc. and they play the biggest role in the success that horses have in their careers.

“Many caretakers share a special bond with a particular equine athlete in their care. So to recognize our sport’s caretakers and that bond with the horses of which they work, we are doing our Second Annual National Caretaker Appreciation Award contest,” explained Terpenning.

To nominate a deserving caretaker, nominators should post a comment on the Harness Racing Replay 2.0’s Facebook page at this link: Harness Racing Replays 2.0 Caretaker Award Contest.

Nominations should include the caretaker’s name with an explanation of why he/she deserves the National Caretaker Appreciation Award. (All nominees must be currently employed as a groom for a working stable and must also have a valid (any) racing jurisdiction groom’s license and must not be on suspension. Trainers should not be nominated.)

Last year’s winner was Nicole Agosti, who received a plaque representing her achievement, a dining gift certificate, a Big D’s gift card and a one-year subscription to Hoof Beats magazine.  The runner-up, Nicky Ratledge, garnered a one-year subscription to Hoof Beats magazine as well. This year the prizes will be the same.

All nominations must be received by Sept. 10, 2019. The winner will be announced during Harness Racing Replay 2.0’s Running Aces joint broadcast with NAHUPicks.com of the Minnesota Night of Champions on Sept. 14, 2019.
