Harness racing show to debut on TVG

from the TVG Network

Los Angeles, CA — TVG, America’s Horseracing Network, will roll out its newest show, “Drive Time,” beginning Friday (Jan. 19) at 8:00 p.m. (ET), the network announced today.

“Drive Time” will be hosted by veteran harness racing personality Gary Seibel and analyst Dave Weaver and will air from Wednesday through Saturday from 8:00-10:00 p.m. (ET). It will present the best racing action from the Meadowlands, the nation’s premier harness racing venue.

“‘Drive Time” will provide racing fans and harness racing fans in particular with a dynamic presentation that takes them inside the sport,” said Tony Allevato, TVG senior vice president and executive producer. “There are several aspects of harness racing that are unique and require a different approach than we traditionally do for Thoroughbred racing.”

In preparation for Drive Time’s debut, TVG has been on hand at the Meadowlands conducting interviews and doing feature stories so that viewers will have unprecedented access to the key personalities involved with racing at the Big M.

Seibel is TV’s preeminent harness racing personality, and has been involved with the sport for more than two decades, beginning at Pompano Park Harness Track in Florida where he served as track announcer, TV host and general manager. In addition to TVG, he also has been an on-air personality at ESPN and CBS, where he hosted numerous harness racing telecasts including the Hambletonian, the sport’s biggest race.

The Meadowlands Racetrack, located across the Hudson River from New York City, conducts the premier harness racing in the U.S. through August 4. During its 137-date winter and summer meets, the Meadowlands will present a stakes program with purses approaching $18 million, including the $1.5 million Hambletonian, harness racing’s biggest event, and the $1 million Meadowlands Pace.
