Wilkes-Barre, PA — The seventh annual Harness Racing Youth League (HRYL) summer camp program has been scheduled for July 16-20 at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

The unique camp provides youngsters between the ages of 11 and 13 the opportunity to learn to drive racehorses. From grooming and care to harnessing, hitching and driving, the participants are exposed to hands-on aspects of the racing business.

The camp culminates with the kids participating in exhibition races using the horses provided by the Harness Horse Youth Foundation.

The camp will open on Monday, July 16, and conclude on Friday, July 20. Those selected via essay contest stay overnight at the East Mountain Inn in Plains Township with meals also provided. There is no charge.

Applications are available at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs (Shamrock Building) or by downloading at www.hhyf.org.

Further information is available by contacting John Zimich at (570) 831-2195 or the HHYF office at (317) 867-5877.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association (PHHA) and the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission sponsor the camp in conjunction with the HHYF.
