Harrington, DE — Harrington Raceway’s 72nd year of live harness racing will resume Monday (Aug. 20) with a 14-race program.

Live racing will be conducted on Aug. 20, 21, 27 and 28 before resumption of a normal Monday through Wednesday schedule for September through Oct. 24.

The feature on this Monday’s program is an $11,000 conditioned pace with 2017 United States Harness Writers Association’s Delaware Valley Chapter Horse of the Meet, Papa Ray (9-1 odds), back in action for former track leading trainer Wayne Givens and last year’s leading driver Victor Kirby. Papa Ray, a 9-year-old Village Jolt stallion, will be making his 225th career start and sports a lifetime bankroll in excess of $635,000 — impressive for a former $1,800 yearling purchase.

Sophomore Evolution Tour (5-2, Montrell Teague) is the morning line favorite for the owner/trainer team of Jo Ann Looney-King and Jim King Jr. The Roddy’s Bags Again gelding has been consistent throughout his career and has never finished worse than third in 18 starts.

A field of seven will go postward as the third leg of the early Pick-4 (races three through six).

Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund stakes action for 2-year-olds will get underway on Sept. 17, the same night as the track’s signature event, the $150,000 Bobby Quillen Memorial, featuring some of the sport’s top pacers. Last year’s event was won by Bit Of A Legend N.

Post time nightly is 5 p.m.
