by Matt Sparacino, publicity director, Harrington Raceway

Harrington, DE — Harrington Raceway will offer its first Saturday night card in 10 years on August 14 as part of the national ‘Back to the Track’ campaign launched by the United States Trotting Association.

An abundance of promotions will take place primarily in the grandstand area over the course of the evening, including a hat giveaway, starting car rides, pony rides, face painting, t-shirts thrown into the crowd by drivers after each race, a drawing for an all expense paid trip to the Little Brown Jug, 10 drawings for $50 in free bets, free programs, $1 hot dogs, a driver autograph session and more. Heather Moffett, host of local television show ‘Post Time,’ will also be available for autographs, along with the drivers in the grandstand lobby from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

A 12-race program is on tap with a 5:30 p.m. post time.

The feature race on the program is the ‘Gray Horse Invitational,’ featuring all gray or roan horses. Harrington’s current leading driver, Ross Wolfenden, will be back in action, driving in eight races, while leading trainer Tim Crissman has a busy night in the works with six horses racing.

Harrington’s signature race, the Bobby Quillen Memorial, will get underway September 13 with eliminations featuring some of the sport’s top older pacers. Last year’s winner, Won The West, is one of 41 horses eligible to this year’s event. The $315,000 (est.) final will be held on September 20.

Racing will resume on its normal Sunday through Thursday schedule beginning August 15.
