Hennessey and Tritton each get slams at Tioga

Nichols, NY — Wally Hennessey and Lauren Tritton each drove four winners at Tioga Downs on Sunday (June 19).

Hennessey won the $13,000 Open Pace with Southwind Ozzi ($2.50). Southwind Ozzi went to the front and led to the first quarter in :26.4. He used a :29.2 second quarter to be first at the half in :56.1. He then cruised to three-quarters in 1:24.

As they reached the stretch Raukapuka Ruler N came all out after the leader, but Southwind Ozzi was too strong and won easily in 1:51.4. Raukapuka Ruler N had to settle for second while Some Deal Hanover (Aaron Byron) finished third.

Southwind Ozzi is a 6-year-old horse by Somebeachsomewhere. He is owned by Vincent Ali Jr. and Alma Iafelice while trained by Bill MacKenzie. It was his seventh win this season and he now has 30 career victories.

Hennessey also captured the $13,000 Open Trot with Angel Nation ($2.90).

Lightfootedlegend (Jacob Cutting) was first to the quarter in :27.1. Angel Nation took over control and led to the half in :55.3 and three-quarters in 1:24.1.

As they made the turn for home, Angel Nation was untouchable as he won easily in 1:53.3. Itsonlymoneyhoney (Mike Merton) was second best as Creekside Pete (Mike Simons) got third money.

Angel Nation is a 5-year-old gelding by Archangel. He is owned by William Hartt and trainer Melissa Beckwith. It was his fourth win this season and he now owns 13 career victories.

Hennessey got his other wins with Hurrikanekingcarlo ($10.40) and Keystone Tenacious ($4.00).

Lauren Tritton combined with trainer Shane Tritton for wins with Springsteen ($3.30) and Let’snotforget ($14.80). Her other trips to the winner’s circle came with Our Majordan A ($3.10) and Globaldomination N ($2.50).
