HHYF welcomes new trustees to board

from the Harness Horse Youth Foundation

Westfield, IN — The Harness Horse Youth Foundation Board of Trustees recently elected two new trustees to the group. Sam McKee from New Jersey and Claire Chappell from New York will now serve.

Sam McKee is currently employed by the Meadowlands as Director of Simulcasting/Announcer and offered, “It’s an honor to be a part of the HHYF board. Without more people being interested in, exposed to and getting involved in harness racing, our future in extremely limited. The HHYF programs are making an impact and getting bigger and better every year. I’m looking forward to being a part of the organization’s growth and expansion.”

No one is a bigger fan of harness racing than Claire Chappell who actively participates in and supports she and her husband’s successful racing stable. She shared, “The world of harness racing is worth preserving and promoting. Many of the young adults active in harness racing have told me that they attended one of the youth camps and that these camps had an important influence on their current involvement with harness racing. Thus I hope working with HHYF will help both the kids directly served and the world of harness racing, as well as giving me the chance to work on a meaningful project with a great group.”

The board also re-elected its current slate of officers: Callie Davies-Gooch, President; Paul Fontaine, Vice President; Leah Cheverie, Secretary; and Marlys Pinske, Treasurer.

HHYF actively works to introduce and educate young people and their families to Standardbreds through a variety of programs. For additional information about the organization, please visit www.hhyf.org or call the office at 317-867-5877.
