Higher And Higher scored in a time of 1:52.1 in Friday’s second leg of the Overbid.

Seventh in the early going, Higher And Higher worked out a third-over trip and stormed home to take the fourth race feature by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:52.1. Tea Party Princess bull rushed to the lead before the half and held on for second, while Put On A Show was a locked-in third. Favored Anndrovette could never get into the race from post nine and wound up seventh.

Higher And Higher returned a $25 win mutuel with co-owner/trainer Daryl Bier in the sulky. The 5-year-old daughter of Western Terror-Pro Bowl Best improved her record to five wins in seven starts this season for Bier and co-owners Glenn Del Russo and Charles Dombeck.

Bier and his partners purchased the mare for $150,000 through an online auction in October 2010. She earned $326,365 and took a mark of 1:49.4 in 2011. Lifetime, Higher And Higher has now won 23 of 53 starts and $854,275.

The $101,750 Overbid Final is one of four stakes finals to be contested next week at the Meadowlands. The Overbid shares the bill with the $78,400 Four Leaf Clover on Saturday (March 17). The $82,000 Horse & Groom and $37,000 Syrinx Hanover for trotters are featured on Friday (March 16).
