Hip Hop Haufor wins first elimination for the Prix d’Amerique

The 5-year-old French trotter Hip Hop Haufor, with trainer, driver, owner and breeder, Christian Bigeon, came from behind to win the Prix de Bretagne at Vincennes, the first of the four B-races which lead to the Prix d’Amerique.

Hip Hop Haufor is sired by Up And Quick, the winner of the 2015 Prix d’Amerique, and out of Villa Haufor, she by Notre Haufor.

Hip Hop Haufor won the 1-11/16th mile event in 1:56.2 (mile rate).

Another 5-year-old, Hussard du Landret, was second past the post, but was placed fifth because of interference with Flamme du Goutier. Second then was the 4-year-old Italiano Vero (sired by Ready Cash) with David Thomain in the bike and trained by Philippe Allaire. Third was the 7-year-old Italian mare Ampia Mede SM (she by Ganymede) with Franck Nivard and trained by Fabrice Souloy.

Those three trotters have now earned a spot in the Prix d’Amerique.

In Sweden, the biggest race for 2-year-old trotters, Svenskt Uppfödningslöppning, was a considerable success for Fourth Dimension (he by Chapter Seven) who sired the first two trotters past the post from his first crop.

Fiftyfour, with Ken Ecce and trained by Tomas Malmqvist, won in 1:58.4, beating Frustration with Magnus A. Djuse and trained by Matthias Djuse, by one length.

The purse for the winner was $150,000.
