Hoof Beats invites you to ‘Name That Prince’

by Nicole Kraft, communications director, U.S. Trotting Association

Columbus, OH — Once upon a time, a filly named Snow White proved she was the fairest of all the 2007 freshman trotting fillies.

Trainer Kevin Lare hopes he has found a true Prince Charming in her half brother by Tom Ridge out of Mom’s Millionaire, whom he and partner North State Street Stable bought Jan. 15, 2007, for $25,000.

The colt is presently named To B Sold (Prince Charming has, sadly, already been taken), but Lare feels he needs a moniker worthy of a fairy tale — and he invites Hoof Beats readers to do the honors.

Now through Jan. 15, we encourage all readers to submit your favorite name selection for the colt. Lare will ask Mirror Mirror which moniker is fairest of them all in time for the newly crowned prince to race as a 2-year-old in 2008, and Hoof Beats will follow his progress throughout his career.

Submit your entries to nkraft@ustrotting.com, with the slug, NAME THAT PRINCE, mail them to 750 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43215, or fax 614.222.6791. All name choices are subject to USTA rules and regulations, and cannot exceed 18 characters including spaces.
