Horse ownership seminar to be held at Vernon

Columbus, OH — A seminar/night at the races for harness racing fans and those interested in taking the plunge into horse ownership will be held prior to the New York Sire Stakes Night of Champions on Saturday, September 26, at Vernon Downs.

This seminar, meant for all levels of harness racing involvement, includes both classroom education and Q & A panels. Interact with drivers, trainers and owners already involved in the sport to get a closer look at the harness racing industry.

The tentative schedule for the afternoon is:

1:00–1:45 p.m. — Vernon Downs Welcome/Racing Program Basics & Handicapping
1:45–2:30 p.m. — An Introduction to Harness Racing & The USTA
2:30–3:30 p.m. — Taking the Plunge into Horse Ownership: Costs & Responsibilities (and Rewards!) and The Difference Between Buying (and Racing) Racehorses & Yearlings
3:45–5:15 p.m. — Trainer/Driver Panel: Building Relationships
5:30–6:40 p.m. — Horsemen’s Reception
6:45–10:00 p.m. — Evening at the Races, Dinner at the Clubhouse

The cost of the seminar is $30/person or $50/couple and includes seminar materials, horsemen’s reception, dinner at the clubhouse, race program and giveaways.
