Harrington, DE — Harrington Raceway’s 67th year of live harness racing will get underway on April 21. Horsemen are asked to return their racing applications by the April 8 deadline.

Applications are available in the Harrington Raceway and Dover Downs race office, as well as online at this link.

One noteworthy change in the general conditions for horsemen is that the minimum open or out-of-state claiming price has been lowered from $15,000 to $12,500. The minimum claiming price a non-Delaware owned/bred horse may show in its last seven program lines in order to be accepted is $12,500.

Racing will be conducted on a Sunday through Thursday schedule until June 9 when the remaining month’s schedule will be trimmed to four days weekly (Sunday through Wednesday).

Also new this year is a text message broadcast system that will be used when horses are needed for specific classes and to broadcast messages of urgency. Racing will resume on a four day schedule on August 12 through Oct. 24.
