Leading driver Billy Dobson took the 6-year-old son of Shanghai Phil off the pace, and the pair reaped the benefits of fast first-half fractions of :26.4 and :56. Heading to the three-quarter pole, Hudson Phil angled to the far outside and used a three-wide move to score in 1:53. American Zest A (Larry Stalbaum) was the runner-up to Hudson Phil for the second consecutive week, while No Ordinary Man (Phil Fluet) closed to finish third.

Hudson Phil, whom Jackie Greene trains for the Kellogg Racing Stable, has now won 30 times in 101 lifetime starts.

Live racing at Saratoga continues on Wednesday afternoon (June 2) with 3-year-old pacing fillies taking center stage as part of the New York Sire Stakes. First post is set for 12 noon.
