Hypnotic Blue Chip ready to battle Shark Gesture

Campbellville, ON — Hypnotic Blue Chip will be making his first ever Breeders Crown appearance Saturday night (Oct. 9) at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and driver Jody Jamieson likes his chances with the 4-year-old son of Art Major.

The Kevin McDermott trainee has won $720,319 this season with a 1:47.2 world record performance taken earlier this year in his division of the US Pacing Championship at the Meadowlands. With nearly $1.3 million earned lifetime, Hypnotic Blue Chip will contest from post four for owner Francis Azur.

Hypnotic Blue Chip’s main competitor is none other than the $2.8 million earner Shark Gesture. Shark Gesture, a son of Cam’s Card Shark, has won nearly $1 million this season for his connections and will begin from post one in Saturday’s $500,000 event.

Jamieson offered his thoughts to WEG’s media department about Saturday night’s rich final and how he’s looking forward to next season with his charge.

“I think I will get a favorable trip from there (post four), and if this horse gets clear sailing at the head of the stretch there aren’t too many horses that can pace with him for a piece.

“All year long people have been talking about a 4-year-old racing and beating the best horses in the world. That’s why I’d love to have the opportunity to drive him next year, I think he’d be that much better with another year under his belt.

“He’s beat them, he hasn’t just held up his end of the bargain, he’s gone out there and beat them week in and week out. I just think as a 5-year-old with another season stronger that he would be just a killer.”
